Read: Joshua 19-20:9; Luke 19:28-48; Psalm 88:1-18; Proverbs 13:12-14

From the reading in the Book of Proverbs:

12Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
     but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.

Proverbs 13:12

Everything begins with hope. Do you ever wonder what distinguishes the successful and the unsuccessful? The successful never lose their hope that no matter hard today is tomorrow will be better. Hope gets you out of bed in the morning. It keeps you healthy and is the root of the tree of life. Our hope is Jesus.

 13People who despise advice are asking for trouble;
     those who respect a command will succeed.

   Proverbs 13:13

Advice is the key to success in life. Nobody is born all knowing. We must all be educated and trained. With or without God we will only achieve as much as we have been taught to do. We are the sum of our advisers whether they are our pastors, parents, teachers, or experiences.

14The instruction of the wise is like a life-giving fountain;
    those who accept it avoid the snares of death.

Proverbs 13:14

Wisdom is knowledge tempered by experience. When people share their testimony with us we see the depth of their understanding of this relationship in their lives. Jesus used his knowledge to teach his disciples through the things they experienced together. The wise of our generation do the same thing. Are we listening?
